We are looking for a Senior Recovery Navigator. This is an exciting new opportunity to join our Team.

What you will be doing
This new role has been developed for a hardworking and self-motivated individual who will oversee the day-to-day running of a weekend peer support service, delivered in person in Islington, London.
Utilising a strong understanding of recovery communities the successful candidate will inspire local people to join the newly formed Islington Peer Support service to engage in regular activities and events taking place in and around Islington. The service will be delivered by the Recovery Navigator alongside a group of volunteers which the Navigator will help recruit and train.
Some of the Key responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Helping to shape the weekend offer of activities available to people who take part in the service
- Supporting recruitment of volunteers who will deliver face to face, weekend recovery support activities in our Islington hub.
- Overseeing a broad range of activities, ensuring that all sessions are facilitated by a volunteer.
- Providing line-management to volunteers who will support service delivery.
- Reaching out into the local community to raise awareness of the project and encourage referrals into the Peer Support community.
- Attending events or activities run by outside organisations to harmonise with other local service providers.
- Logging site attendance and attendance to activities.
- Working alongside the incumbent treatment provider and local community groups to create strong relationships and referral links between clients in treatment to those wishing to access recovery communities.
- Encouraging clients to take part in other activities and interventions provided by The Forward Trust, such as Forward Connect, Recovery Support, More Than My Past Podcast, Addiction Awareness Week, etc.
This role is a part time position, offering 2 days a week, weekend work only.
What we are looking for
As a Recovery Navigator you will possess the following skills -
Experience of coaching and supervising volunteers
- Experience of recruitment
- The ability to engage effectively with the client group.
- Understanding of the voluntary sector and mentoring programmes
- Self-driven, and ability to work remotely or as part of a small team
- Effective negotiating and influencing skills
- Experience of overseeing the collection, recording and collating of information, including statistical data, for audit, research and reporting purposes
- A thorough understanding of Service user led support groups and their role in maintaining ongoing recovery.
- Working knowledge of using Microsoft office packages and databases.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and equality issues
- Demonstrable experience of remote working
- Experience of facilitating groups or group training
